Big Country Kennel offers a variety of programs to meet your needs.

We do have a preference for
English Pointers and that is the breed we personally raise and sell.  We train any pointing breed.

We occasionally have English Pointer pups, started and finished pointers for sale.

We located our kennel in  Albany, Texas
because of the abundance of wild quail in this area.  Shackelford County has always had the reputation of being one of the best quail hunting areas in the state of Texas.

Wild birds will make a gundog. You can start a dog on pigeons and pen raised quail,  but there is nothing that will replace the real thing, which is wild quail.

 Visitors are always welcome 
at our kennel.

Tex is a dog bred by Big Country Kennel.

Roger’s 45 plus years of experience go beyond the basics, thus allowing your dog to develop to his full potential.  Roger has the ability to properly read a dog to ensure successful training. 

We train in the following areas:

Whoa
Handle in the field
Pointing and holding wild  birds  
Backing (honor point)
Retrieve training

Dogs trained on pen raised birds ONLY may not point and hold wild birds.

(All fees include dog food and birds used)

Training fee per month:   $450.00

Retrieve training fee per month: $400.00 
(usually takes two months)

Boarding fee per month: $75.00
